To make a minimalist shoe that retains the supportive structure of the legendary Empire while advancing the style, we started with a one-piece ultralight monofilament "Synchwire" mesh upper designed around a classic laced closure to fit and feel like a second skin. Thermal-welded Teijin® TPU adds structural support exactly where it's needed, and a high-modulus Easton® EC90™ SLX2 carbon fiber plate provides ultimate stiffnessto-weight for power transfer. Our adjustable Super Natural Fit footbed system is the final touch, allowing you to customize arch support right out of the box for luxurious comfort and optimal pedaling efficiency.
EASTON EC90 SLX CARBON COMPOSITE OUTSOLE. We worked closely with the engineering staff at Easton to develop proprietary outsoles that provide the most direct, powerful connection to the pedals without connection to the pedals without compromising comfort. Using advanced modeling and proprietary fixturing in our extensive test lab, every outsole is engineered to provide ideal stiffness in 3 zones: Toe, Arch, and Heel, while maintaining the lowest possible weight and stack-height (as low as 6.5mm).
SUPERNATURAL FIT KIT. The Giro Super Natural Fit System combines a cycling-specific footbed with an adjustable arc support kit. By simply choosing from any of the Low, Medium or High arch supports included in the kit, riders and fitters can independently adjust arch support to enhance fit and pedaling efficiency while reducing or eliminating common foot discomforts like hotspots, numbness and cramping. The system is available in Men’s and Women’s sizes and incorporates X-Static(R) fibers in the footbed to fight odors and bacteria.
SYNCWIRE. Syncwire construction is a stitch-less upper that’s vented and reinforced to create a lightweight cycling shoe with incredible airflow and structural integrity. Synchwire is an advanced composite of thermo-bonded film that provides overall durability, a non-woven internal sheet for distributing the force from the BOA Fit System to the upper for direct power transfer, and mono-filament mesh for ventilation.
